Founder & President
Alex Rich is a senior nonprofit and operations executive with more than 15 years of experience leading financial, administrative, and governance functions within higher education and mission-driven organizations. She brings deep expertise in grants and research administration, organizational strategy, compliance, and operational leadership.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management degree with a concentration in Marketing from Kennesaw State University and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership degree with a concentration in Project Management from Brenau University. Throughout her career, Alex has overseen complex portfolios, guided cross-functional teams, and implemented scalable systems that strengthen accountability, performance, and long-term sustainability.
As Founder and President of The A. Rich Foundation, Alex provides strategic leadership and governance oversight to advance the organization’s mission of expanding equitable access to youth enrichment opportunities. Her leadership is grounded in disciplined execution, thoughtful stewardship, and a deep commitment to community impact.
In her personal life, Alex enjoys sports and values quality time spent with her son and daughter, drawing inspiration from family life that further fuels her dedication to supporting children and families through TARF.

Vice President
Heather Holbrook is a distinguished human resources professional with roots in Georgia and a professional presence in Maryland. She is guided by a strong commitment to faith, family, community, and service. As a devoted mother, her daughter remains a central source of inspiration, shaping Heather’s dedication to family-centered and community-driven impact.
Heather currently serves as Committee Chair for the African American Community Roundtable of Howard County, where she leads initiatives focused on social justice and strategic communications. She also serves as Vice President of The A. Rich Foundation, providing leadership, strategic insight, and governance support in advancing the organization’s mission.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from Kennesaw State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland. By blending academic excellence with professional experience, Heather is committed to fostering inclusivity and equity within corporate and community spaces.
Heather values meaningful time with family and friends and brings a thoughtful, service-oriented approach to her leadership and board service. Her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to impact make her a valued member of the TARF Board of Directors.
Resource Stewardship Officer
J. Jones is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in property maintenance and management, where he has built a strong reputation for reliability, craftsmanship, and a commitment to high-quality service. His attention to detail and consistent work ethic have made him a trusted presence within the communities he serves.
In addition to his professional background, J. is deeply committed to coaching and mentoring youth. He leverages his leadership skills and life experience to support young people in their personal development and growth. This dedication to mentorship and community engagement aligns closely with the mission of The A. Rich Foundation.
J. brings a hands-on, service-oriented perspective to the Board of Directors and is a valued contributor to TARF’s efforts to empower youth and strengthen families.
Governance & Records Officer
Shanika Smith is an accomplished educator with over 15 years of experience in special education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Fort Valley State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education from the University of West Georgia. She is currently pursuing a specialist degree in special education, reflecting her commitment to continuous professional growth and excellence in education.
Beyond her academic and professional work, Shanika is deeply committed to mentorship and youth development. She coaches high school volleyball and is passionate about empowering young people both inside and outside the classroom. In her personal time, she enjoys spending quality time with her two sons and expressing her creativity through playing the piano and violin, painting, and wood-burning crafts.
Shanika’s dedication to inclusive education, mentorship, and lifelong learning makes her a valuable leader and trusted steward of governance for The A. Rich Foundation.
